Mexicaspis difuntosensis was named by Lochman (1952). Its type specimen is U.S.N.M. No.115766, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

Lochman 1952The species is readily distinguished from Mexicaspis stenopyge Lochman, by (i) posterior part of glabella wider so that forward expansion appears less, (2) glabella moderately convex, (3) dorsal furrow in front of glabella and marginal furrow distincton outer surface, (4) pygidium with broader proportions, and (5) the lateral direction of the posterior pair of marginal spines.
