Taxonomy
Nassa perpinguis was named by Hinds (1844). It is extant. Its type specimen is BMNH 44.9.23.5, a shell.

It was recombined as Alectrion perpinguis by Oldroyd (1925); it was recombined as Nassarius perpinguis by Clark (1931); it was recombined as Nassarius (Schizopyga) perpinguis by Soper and Grant (1932) and Valentine (1958); it was recombined as Nassarius (Caesia) perpinguis by Addicott (1965); it was recombined as Caesia perpinguis by Hendy (2021).
