Ammonites nutfieldiensis was named by Sowerby (1815).

It was recombined as Parahoplites nutfieldensis by Casey (1961); it was recombined as Parahoplites nutfieldiensis by Sharikadze et al. (2004) and Lehmann et al. (2009).
