Taxonomy
Parallelodon riccardii was named by Damborenea (1987). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is D15-Cerro Roth South, Bed 105, South Neuquen, which is in a Pliensbachian marine limestone in the Piedra Pintada Formation of Argentina.
