Taxonomy
Pentaphyllum hithis was named by Weyer (1975). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hiddensee Island, Borehole RĂ¼gen 2, unit 4, NE Germany, which is in an Ivorian marine shale in Germany.

It was recombined as Cryptophyllum hithis by Fedorowski (2009).
