Taxonomy
Meretrix uvasana was named by Conrad (1855). Its type specimen is ANSP 4457 (neotype) and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pitar (Calpitaria) uvasanus by Stewart (1930); it was recombined as Pitar (Calpitaria) uvasana by Squires (1984); it was recombined as Pitar uvasana by Squires (1999) and Hendy (2020).
