Taxonomy
Plesiopinna pampeana was named by Griffin et al. (2008). Its type specimen is GHUNLPam 810, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Barda Baya 1, which is in a Maastrichtian offshore siltstone in the Jagüel Formation of Argentina.
