Taxonomy
Bornemannia prima was named by Walcott (1908). Its type specimen is USNM 62624 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Bathyuriscus (Poliella) primus by Walcott (1916) and Walcott (1916); it was recombined as Poliella prima by Resser (1935).
