Taxonomy
Scaphander jacksonensis was named by Harris and Palmer (1947). Its type specimen is PRI 20015 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is PRI 785, which is in a Bartonian marine sandstone in the Moodys Branch Formation of Mississippi.
