Taxonomy
Oppelia plicodiscus was named by Waagen (1875). It is not extant. Its type locality is Kachchh Katrol Group, which is in a Kimmeridgian offshore siltstone in the Katrol Formation of India.
It was recombined as Streblites plicodiscus by Howarth and Morris (1998) and Howarth (1998).
