Volutoderma averillii
Taxonomy
Fusus averillii was named by Gabb (1864). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is "Chico beds" - Tuscan Springs, Tehama, which is in a Coniacian coastal siliciclastic in California.
It was recombined as Volutoderma averillii by Stewart (1927), Hoots (1931), Elder and Saul (1993) and Saul and Squires (2008); it was recombined as Volutoderma averilli by Haggart and Graham (2018).
