Loxonema (Rhabdostropha) was named by Donald (1905). Its type is Rhabdostropha grindrodii.

It was synonymized subjectively with Loxonema by Knight et al. (1960); it was reranked as Rhabdostropha by Wagner (2023).

It was assigned to Loxonema by Donald (1905); and to Omospirinae by Wagner (2023).
