Globigerinella was named by Cushman (1927) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-u R]. It is extant. Its type is Globigerina aequilateralis.
It was assigned to Globigerininae by Cushman (1927); to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Globigerinidae by Reuter et al. (2019) and Lam and Leckie (2020).
