Tylaster priscus was named by Valette (1928). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Lectotypes at University of Burgundy and University Claude Bernard Lyon 1.
It was corrected as Tylaster priscum by Valette (1929) and Mercier (1935); it was recombined as Tylasteria prisca by Valette (1929) and Breton (1992).

Profile of the superomarginal convex. Profile of the inferomarginals angular. Abradial side of the marginals verticals. External face domed. Ornament of large, dense granule-pits, of variable size.
