Chlamys harmeri was named by Regteren Altena (1937) [DISTRIBUTION: Plio-Pleistocene; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Chlamys (Chlamys) harmeri by Altena (1937) and MacNeil (1967); it was recombined as Crassadoma harmeri by Waller (1993).
