Pseudozygopleura (Leptozyga) was named by Knight (1930) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 1,1130].

It was reranked as Palaeostylus (Leptozyga) by Knight et al. (1960); it was reranked as Leptozyga by Sepkoski (2002) and Wagner (2023).

It was assigned to Pseudozygopleura by Knight (1930); to Palaeostylus by Knight et al. (1960); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Orthonemidae by Wagner (2023).
