Taxonomy
Probalaena dubusii was named by Van Beneden (1872). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Anvers, which is in a Miocene/Pliocene marine horizon in Belgium.

It was recombined as Balaena dubusi by Trouessart (1898) and Trouessart (1904).
