Venus globosa was named by Forsskål (1775) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Indonesia.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Taras (Taras) globosa by Beets (1886); it was recombined as Diplodonta globosa by Skwarko (1994).
