Propliopithecus haeckeli
Taxonomy
Propliopithecus haeckeli was named by Schlosser (1911). Its type specimen is SMN 12638, a mandible (left and right mandibles), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Stuttgart Fayum collection, which is in a Rupelian terrestrial horizon in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Propliopithecus.
