Liocerithium was named by Tryon (1887) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 559]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Cerithiadae by Ladd (1972); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
