Aralocricetodon was named by Bendukidze (1993). It is not extant. Its type is Aralocricetodon schokensis.
It was assigned to Tachyoryctoidinae by Bendukidze et al. (2009); to Cricetopinae by Maridet and Ni (2013); and to Cricetidae by López-Guerrero et al. (2017).
