Littoriniscala was named by de Boury (1887) [Sepkoski's age data: T Than R]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Amaea (Littoriniscala) by Darragh and Kendrick (1994); it was reranked as Epitonium (Littoriniscala) by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); it was misspelled as Littorniscala by Sepkoski (2002) and Schnetler and Heilmann-Clausen (2011).

It was assigned to Amaea by Darragh and Kendrick (1994); to Epitonium by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Epitoniidae by Schnetler and Heilmann-Clausen (2011).
