Taxonomy
Hoplitosuchus raui was named by Huene (1942). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sanga 3, Große Sanga, Santa Maria (lower), which is in a Carnian/Norian terrestrial horizon in the Santa Maria Formation of Brazil.
It was considered a nomen dubium by Nesbitt et al. (2013).
