Marticia was named by Brusina (1897) [Sepkoski's age data: T Plio. NOTE: this is a freshwater genus]. Its type is Hydrobia tietzei.

It was assigned to Pyrgulidae by Kabat and Hershler (1993); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
