Venus antiqua was named by King (1832) [DISTRIBUTION: Holocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.
It was recombined as Protothaca antiqua by da Silva Forti (1969); it was recombined as Ameghinomya antiqua by Ortlieb et al. (1990), Rosenberg (2005) and Pérez et al. (2013).
