Amphidesma bellastriata was named by Conrad (1837) [DISTRIBUTION: Holocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Semele (Semele) bellastriata by da Silva Forti (1969); it was recombined as Semele bellastriata by Dall (1900) and Rosenberg (2005).
