Mesoglauconia was named by Mennessier (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: K Haut K Albi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 815].

It was assigned to Cassiopidae by Buitrón-Sánchez and López-Tinajero (1995); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
