Pleurotoma patagonica was named by d'Orbigny (1841) [DISTRIBUTION: Holocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Drillia patagonica by da Silva Forti (1969); it was recombined as Spirotropis patagonica by Rosenberg (2005).
