Olivella tehuelchana was named by d'Orbigny (1841) [DISTRIBUTION: Holocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Olivella (Olivina) tehuelchana by d'Orbigny (1841), Olsson (1956) and da Silva Forti (1969); it was corrected as Olivella tehuelcha by Rosenberg (2005).
