Turritella eckiana was named by de Laubriere (1881) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleogene; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mesalia ecki by Cossmann and Pissarro (1910); it was recombined as Sigmesalia eckiana by Le Renard (1986).
