Turritella praecessus was named by Defrance (1828) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleogene; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Turritella (Haustator) praecessus by Cossmann and Pissarro (1910); it was recombined as Haustator praecessus by Le Renard (1986).

  • Turritella lamarckii was named by Defrance (1828) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleogene; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

    It was recombined as Turritella (Haustator) lamarcki by Cossmann and Pissarro (1910); it was synonymized subjectively with Haustator praecessus by Le Renard (1986).
