Microptychis was named by Longstaff (1912) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 109,797]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Pseudozygopleurinae by Horný (1955) and Knight et al. (1960); to Caenogastropoda by Hoare (1961); to Palaeozygopleuridae by Hoare and Sturgeon (1981); to Pseudozygopleuridae by Pan and Erwin (2002); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
