Turritella monilifera was named by Deshayes (1832) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleogene; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Turritella (Peyrotia) monilifera by Cossmann and Pissarro (1910); it was recombined as Peyrotia monilifera by Le Renard (1986); it was recombined as Haustator monilifer by Le Renard (1992).
