Urasterina was named by Spencer (1951). It is not extant.

It was corrected as Uractinina by Spencer and Wright (1966), Blake and Guensburg (1993) and Blake and Rozhnov (2007); it was reranked as the order Uractinida by Blake (1989) and Sepkoski (2002); it was considered an invalid subgroup of Asteroidea by Blake (2018).

It was assigned to Hemizonida by Spencer (1951), Lehmann (1957) and Owen (1965); to Forcipulatida by Spencer and Wright (1966); to Asteroidea by Blake (1989), Blake and Guensburg (1993) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Platyasterida by Blake and Rozhnov (2007).
