Taxonomy
Adapoides was named by Beard et al. (1994). Its type is Adapoides troglodytes. It was considered monophyletic by Beard et al. (1994).
It was assigned to Adapina by Beard et al. (1994); to Caenopithecinae by Godinot (1998); and to Adapinae by Gunnell and Miller (2001).
