Taxonomy
Mactra trigonella was named by Lamarck (1818) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; Indo-Pacific.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Spisula trigonella by Hashimoto (1982); it was recombined as Spisula (Notospisula) trigonella by Rosenberg et al. (2006).
