Torcula murrayana was named by Tate (1885) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Miocene; Southern Australia.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Turritella murrayana by Tate (1893); it was recombined as Maoricolpus murrayana by Darragh (1970).
