Fusus styliformis was named by Tenison-Woods (1879) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; Southern Australia.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Sipho styliformis by Tate (1888); it was recombined as Varicosipho styliformis by Darragh (1970).
