Taxonomy
Amphicyon tolosanus was named by Noulet (1876). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Arctamphicyon tolosanus by Kuss (1965); it was recombined as Ysengrinia tolosana by Ginsburg (1966) and Hunt (2002).
