Swiftopecten swifti was named by Bernardi (1858) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic-Recent; North Pacific.]. It is extant.

It was corrected as Swiftopecten swiftii by O'Hara and Nemoto (1988); it was recombined as Chlamys (Swiftopecten) swifti by Kafanov et al. (2001).
