Amphithalamus was named by Carpenter (1864) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 557]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Rissoidae by Ladd (1966); to Anabathrinae by Ponder (1983); to Barleeiidae by Lozouet (1998); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).

Synonyms

Notoscrobs was named by Powell (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 681,899]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Amphithalamus (Notoscrobs) by Ponder (1983) and Beu et al. (1990); it was synonymized subjectively with Amphithalamus by Rosenberg (2014).

It was assigned to Amphithalamus by Ponder (1983) and Beu et al. (1990); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
