Mya priapus was named by Tilesius (1822) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; North Pacific.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mya (Mya) priapus by MacNeil (1965) and Petrov (1982); it was recombined as Panomya priapus by Coan et al. (2000) and Hendy (2021).
