Mya pseudoarenaria was named by Schlesch (1931) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic-Recent; North Pacific-North Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Mya (Mya) pseudoarenaria by MacNeil (1965) and Khudik (1979); it was synonymized subjectively with Mya (Mya) uzenensis by Kafanov et al. (2001).
