Taxonomy
Mytilus schencki was named by Hanna and Hertlein (1938) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; North Pacific.]. Its type specimen is CAS 4686, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Mytilus (Crenomytilus) schencki by Moore (1983); it was recombined as Crenomytilus schencki by Kafanov et al. (2001).
