Yoldia watasei was named by Kanehara (1937) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; North Pacific.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Yoldia (Portlandella) watasei by Sinelnikova (1991); it was recombined as Megayoldia (Portlandella) watasei by Kafanov et al. (2001).
