Taxonomy
Portlandella was named by Stewart (1930) [TYPE LOCALITY: California (Eocene). HISTORY: Synonym of Portlandia Mörch 1957 [Coan et al. 2000].]. Its type is Leda rosa.

It was reranked as Portlandia (Portlandella) by Woodring (1973); it was reranked as Yoldia (Portlandella) by Sinelnikova (1991); it was synonymized subjectively with Portlandia by Coan et al. (2000); it was reranked as Megayoldia (Portlandella) by Kafanov et al. (2001) and Kafanov and Ogasawara (2003).

It was assigned to Portlandia by Woodring (1973); to Yoldia by Sinelnikova (1991); and to Megayoldia by Kafanov et al. (2001) and Kafanov and Ogasawara (2003).
