Arca nitida was named by Brocchi (1814) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; North Pacific.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Yoldia (Portlandella) nitida by Gladenkov (1972); it was recombined as Megayoldia (Portlandella) nitida by Kafanov et al. (2001); it was recombined as Yoldia nitida by Slodkewitsch (1936) and Harzhauser et al. (2011).
