Taxonomy

Palaeasteridae was named by Miller (1889). It is not extant. Its type is Palaeaster.

It was assigned to Promopalaeasteracea by Schuchert (1915); to Pustulosa by Owen (1965); to Palaeasteraceae by Spencer and Wright (1966); to Pustulosida by Blake (1989); and to Hadrosida by Blake (2018) and Blake and Koniecki (2019).
