Taxonomy
Pecten sturtianus was named by Tate (1886) [TYPE LOCALITY: Lower beds, River Murray Cliffs, Blanchetown, Australia].

It was recombined as Chlamys sturtianus by Darragh (1970); it was recombined as Mimachlamys sturtiana by Beu and Darragh (2001).
