Taxonomy
Ostrea flabellula was named by Lamarck (1806) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; Western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Ostrea (Cubitostrea) flabellula by Sacco (1897) and Sacco (1897); it was recombined as Ostrea (Euostrea) flabellula by Douville (1920); it was recombined as Cubitostrea flabellula by Tracey et al. (1996).
